The OJR Education Foundation is pleased to introduce you to the members of the OJR Middle School Youth & Philanthropy Club this year: Sophia Damasceno, Garrett Hoopes, Rachel Hoopes (not pictured), Braedan Jones, Teresa Kraft, Myla-Kate Neiman, Saniya Pennick, Josephine Podziomek, Khushi Shiva, Cassandra Standeven, Samuel Vazquez (not pictured), and Gabriel Wray. We are very grateful to the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation for once again awarding an $8000 grant to the Foundation to fund this wonderful program.
The students have been meeting with their advisors, Mrs. Hampton and Mrs. Otis, and have created their mission statement: “We are σωτήρες (Sotíres), a group of 8th-graders from Owen J. Roberts Middle School, and our mission is to help local organizations that focus on animal rescue, mental health in children, and children with struggles in the home.” During their weekly meetings, they will research organizations in our area so they can determine who to partner with, what projects they want to complete, and how to use the grant funds in order to fulfill their mission. What an awesome way for students to be introduced to the importance of philanthropy!
